Building a better future.

OVERVIEW

The Knights of Columbus Columbia Council 7559 is assisting the Adorer Missionary Sisters of the Poor in their efforts to develop and manage the St. John Vianney Orphange in Malowa, Tanzania. Currently 38 children are living in the orphange, temporarily being housed in the Sisters convent until seperate housing can be built.

This will provide the orphans with a safe nurturing living environment, nutritious meals, health care, counseling, educational assistance, and opportunities to grow spiritually and socially.

Complimenting the orphanage is the Malowa Medical Dispensary which was funded by the Columbia Council. When completed orphanage will include several orphans homes, a Catholic primary school, an outdoor kitchen, housing for the staff of the school and medical dispensary, a volunteer house, and a water well.

These projects together will enable the orphaned children to mature into responsible, productive adults who will be able to properly integrate into the greater community. Additionally, the surrounding community will benefit from the improved health care that will be provided to them from the medical clinic, as well as the use of the clean source of water.
